I am curious - has anyone tried out these color e-ink Android tablets with some popular drawing/painting apps?
I have a reMarkable 2, which is decent for quick black & white sketching - but I really want a color e-ink tablet one day, and I want to make sure that color drawing and sketching works well with them.
I have the onyx boox nova air c which has a stylus and color e ink screen. I don’t really use it for drawing though. The colors are pretty limited (think a faded old timey comic book). But the stylus response is good. I haven’t tried drawing apps but I can run pretty much any android app on it.
I mostly use it for reading manga/webcomics, typing books, and reading. I’ve got it loaded up with a some Latin dictionaries so I can use it for language learning. The nova air c is an older model so maybe the color screen is better on the new ones lol.
The color is nice, but for serious artists I can’t imagine the nova air c is sufficient.
Well, a dedicated Wacom tablet with in-built screen is always going to be superior for serious artwork.
But when you are traveling, the ability to do quick digital color sketches in broad daylight could be very useful indeed.
One of the reasons I want a colored eink is that I can finally starting to draw my slides instead of writing it.
Although I have never tried a Wacom tablet connecting to my PC. I heard they have pretty good Linux support. Maybe that would suffice.
