In the age of ‘loyalty tests’ this really isn’t new. On top of that military personnel have always had their speech restricted. But, as long as they weren’t bad mouthing their leaders or discussing unprofessional topics at work it was generally fine.
This is a step MUCH further than that, sure, especially for a political activist civilian… still just a loyalty test, though. Just like when they replaced all the senior leaders that didn’t hold their values.
