Other red states have made similar moves in blue cities even as crime in those cities has decreased sharply from pandemic-era highs. And now President Donald Trump is borrowing from the playbook, sending federal agents and National Guard troops to patrol the nation’s capital and threatening to do the same elsewhere.

“It’s part of the narrative that these cities are incapable of administering public safety even though crime is on a downswing since the pandemic,” said Jorge Camacho, an associate research scholar in law at Yale Law School. “You still need a foil to blame for problems that are real and imagined. I expect to see that wielded for the foreseeable future.”

    Anyone that isn’t a conservative should be stocking up on guns and ammo right about now.

    Purchase from separate vendors using separate payment methods. Spread the purchases out over time. Don’t get yourself on a list.

      I do support responsible gun ownership, but if it gets to that point I don’t know if there’s much of a point bringing a gun to a Palantir drone fight. That doesn’t mean I don’t think people should arm themselves, just being realistic in terms of what you as an individual can really do against a government contractor that already uses this stuff against civilians and children in other countries without thinking twice about it. I’d hope I would be long gone by then or at least in the process of getting asylum somewhere.

      As far as not ending up on a list, Louisiana loves to pretend that it’s some kind of concealed carry and gun ownership rights utopia, but I’ve heard some concerns from local 2A fans about the AI tech in the privately owned Project Nola surveillance cameras that are all over the place. Pretty sure if they want to know who’s armed and who’s not they can find out pretty quickly.
