Fisk seems to win all the awards.

IMHO, Australian Survivor is killing it. Better than the US version. Though it’s filmed in Fiji, so maybe doesn’t count.

4 Corners is always the answer for serious journalism.

I just can’t get into Alone since the thought occurred to me that it’s just a competition to see who can last the longest before they spiral into depression and/or a mental breakdown. 😟

I just find it too depressing.

Especially the American one when they ask the winner what they’ll spend the winnings on, and they say “my wife’s cancer treatment”. Like get a functioning healthcare system, then but a Lambo damn it!

How does Alone differ to Survivor? I think I know the basics of survivor from seeing a couple of episodes when it first started. I don’t know anything about Alone. Your comment makes it sound more like a documentary but I gather it’s still also a competition?

Each contestant is on their own. They place cameras themselves to record their activities. The goal is to be the last one remaining.

They get to bring a limited amount of equipment and supplies with them, there is no way for them to get anything additional from outside. They need to build their own shelter and find their own food.

They each have a satellite phone they can use to call for rescue or to notify the organisers that they would like to leave. Doing either means they lose.

The winner will be told when they’re the last one remaining, they have no way of knowing how many are left at any point otherwise.

That’s the show, it’s extremely good.
