Because without conscious effort to expand your horizons, your preferences and distastes ossify around what you were exposed to growing up and in young adulthood. However, the world continues to change. Aging also can make adapting harder cognitively.

4·30 days agoI was so disgusted setting up Windows the last time I had to do so. The installation process was just upselling/shoving adware. And now every other update bricks your pc.

12·30 days agoAt the bottom of user skill, you’ve got your aunt who needs a Chrome bootloader. Linux is perfect for them, maybe better than Windows.
My school system had thin clients running CentOS growing up and nobody had issues.
Your fingerprint being one of like five people running TempleOS would deanonymize you lol.

There’s quite a few Discord alternatives. IMO Stoat and especially Fluxer are pretty discord-like. Fluxer is pretty new and still working out kinks. They support (Stoat) or will support (Fluxer) self-hosting and Fluxer will implement (limited) E2EE. I have heard of other alternatives like Root, TeamSpeak, Mumble but cannot speak to them.
Reddit still has some value in that it has active niches or hobbyist subs. I still pop in for book/movie/tech recommendations.
