‘hemp’ and mushrooms, there are worse ways to go I imagine

Grade = strength of cigarette
You clearly do not want to quit, be honest about that, stop making excuses, and playing games.

I smoked for 20 years, quitting was not easy, but the world wasn’t the problem, I was.
Drop down grades while repeatedly asking yourself if you want to be smoking for the rest of your life.
You may experience issues with the gpu side of things, details are in the comments on the page I linked (its a recent, and hopefully temporary issue).
"Palantir Technologies is an American company whose software is used by the CIA, the Pentagon and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Its platforms fuse large datasets — financial records, government databases, transaction histories, intelligence holdings — to build profiles, identify patterns and surface individuals of interest.
Cellebrite is an Israeli company that does something more intimate: it extracts the entire contents of a specific person’s phone. Encrypted messages. Deleted files. Location history. Call logs. Health data. Everything. The extraction happens even when the phone is locked.
In the United Kingdom, where the NHS is already trying to exit a £330 million Palantir contract, police forces are simultaneously integrating Palantir and Cellebrite — using Cellebrite to extract phone data and Palantir to analyse it against broader intelligence holdings…"

People should stop smoking
Problem solved
People should also stop voting for dickheads.

The ABC are not doing this due to a lack of humans.

Beer and lemonade = a ‘shandy’ here

desktop environments can be configured to appear differently, ie: taskbars (panels) can be moved to the top, bottom, side etc, but if you want an apple feel, gnome is probably your best bet.
as an example, the ubuntu default desktop environment is gnome
but you can also get:
kubuntu which uses kde plasma desktop environment
xubuntu which uses the Xfce desktop environment
lubuntu which used LXQt desktop environment
ubuntu budgie
ubuntu cinnamon
ubuntu mate
etc
The majority of distros will allow you to download an installer for a few different desktop environment versions. Some other distros let you choose the desktop environment during the installation process.

Mint can be horrible on newer systems, because mint is backwards.
My 1st ever install of linux was on a mini pc with an amd 5700U apu. It was a disaster with massive, very dramatic visual and audio issues.
I went on to distrohop approx 30 other distros, not a single one of them replicated the mint issues.

The DE (desktop environment) is what you interact with.
2 of the most popular: gnome = apple kde plasma = windows
There are other desktop environments as well.

I had debian installed as a back up distro on 2 computers due to it not be corrupted like fedora, and ubuntu. It installed easily on the amd system, as expected. I ended up using a script to instal it on the intel (with integrated graphics) and nvidia system. It just didn’t want to play nice.
Then debian decided to hold a vote with 20 different options… all of them including debian going ai
Now debian has gone bye-bye
You enjoy your awesome though :P

unless your cpu etc is new, then mint is the worst advice you will ever receive (been there)

Each unto their own, but I would never mix those 3 together…

My old pc (now used mainly for watching movies etc) has a nvidia card in it, the only distro I ever had issues with was debian, which is unlikely to be recommended, especially now. People really do have a bad habit of recommending non-awesome distros to newbies though, as op’s list of options shows.

Choose a distro, follow their installation guide.

The rusties didn’t think so
israel should stop murdering people and stop infiltrating foreign governments.
