“Because the cruelty is the point”?
Cripple. History Major. Irritable and in constant pain. Vaguely Left-Wing.
“Because the cruelty is the point”?
Aw, is Roberts furrowing his brows really intensely?
lmao, no, not even, he’s looking ashamed and doing less than the bare minimum, just like at the impeachment proceedings.
But I think I liked it better when they did an empty gesture in support of gay rights rather than against them
Just one of those things. Means nothing about the companies themselves, but means everything about where society in general is at.
This is suppose to be a Canadian app why are we flooded with everything that’s happening in america?
New to Federation? You’re on Lemmy.ca, which is Canadian, but this community, !news@lemmy.world here isn’t based in Canada. You might find more luck in !canada@lemmy.ca or !canadapolitics@lemmy.ca, though!
OK democratic leadership, you win; I’ll quit voting for your party.
May not matter at the rate we’re going.
Oh, I’m sure now the GOP will sing your praises, o mighty and reasonable bipartisan Schumer. /s
Fuckwit.
Good. The US can no longer be trusted to supply equipment to NATO countries.
Spineless fucks. Predictable, unfortunately.
I don’t get why the millionaires aren’t giving more pushback. They’re not going to be safe either from him.
Because millionaires are just as fucking stupid as the rest of the population.
It’s already very cheap and outdated, and honestly, I’m not very technically proficient to begin with. Already almost junked it trying to fix it once, lmao.
Well, I don’t really have the money to buy much of anything these days. But any dreams of getting a new e-bike in the near future are dashed, that’s for damn sure. This broken heap with a quarter-battery charge will have to last me a few more years.
As an American, I never had much of an attachment to ‘buying American’. I understood comparative advantage and the benefits it brings to all parties involved. I had neither favoritism for nor against American-made goods or American companies.
I’m now dedicated to buying non-American goods wherever possible, and buying as little as possible in general (though that’s not much of a change).
I once again comment that the Trump administration seems to adopt a lot of policy farmers wouldn’t like, for a party of rural areas.
Doesn’t matter. They’ll vote Republican anyway.
It’s a case of “follow the leader”. Whenever a candidate wins in a democratic or semi-democratic system, all other candidates become more likely to lean more towards the winning candidate’s positions on issues, either in the hope of peeling off votes or preventing defections from their own moderates.
If only there was some way we could have went the other direction on the issue. Maybe a candidate who wasn’t a openly raging transphobe.
Bruh, the rhetoric from the ‘left’ in this country already IS moderate
Not really. We chose this.
The American people are, on average, fascist dipshits.
Disagree completely. Ask people their thoughts on specific issues and they almost always skew left even if they vote right.
Most people have political opinions the way liquids have form.
And the container is their emotional responses, which are overwhelmingly weighted towards valuing traditional conservative arguments.
This is why when push comes to shove, even in fucking liberal states, left ballot initiatives regularly fail.
The idea of a secretly left-population is not borne out by any of the facts.
Is “Moderate” code for more to the right now?
“Moderate” means “closer to the other party” in US politics.
And the other party in this case is… well…
These words are meaningless. In many countries, to become more liberal is the same thing as becoming more moderate. It’s confusing to me because liberal and moderate mean one thing in the US and something else in the rest of the world. And I live in the US! After all these years, I still don’t quite understand what people mean by liberal, moderate, and conservative.
In casual US discourse, liberal is left. In context, more moderate means becoming more right-wing.
One supposes they wanted to get the fat stacks but maintain control via PR.
Unfortunately for them, PR has a dollar value to corporations, and once the cost of PR exceeds its value, it is no longer an effective barrier to action.
