That’s awesome! I had to side load it and it was such a pain in the ass i just bought a Chromecast.

Between a poor BluRay copy and a good DVD copy, the DVD always wins out.

Yeah, all my inputs go to the tv, then i run a wire to the receiver. This makes it so my ps5 and PC are plugged directly to the tv so i can get different resolutions are variable refresh rate and the tv can control the receiver. So when I turn something on, the tv/receiver turn on and set themselves to matching settings, Dolby, stereo, whatever. Its not huge but its a nice convinienice over the older optical connection.

I mean, yes and no. I like e-arc, and I like being able to adjust settings other than v-hold. But I don’t want this slow crud fest that keeps telling me when my neighbour turns on Bluetooth on their iphone.

Theres a ton of other things I want my TV to do before more pixels.
Actual functional software would be nice, better tracking on high speed shots (in particular sweeping landscapes or reticles in video games) higher frame rates and variable frame rate content, make the actual using of the tv, things like changing inputs or channels faster, oh man so much more.
Anything but more pixels.
My university had the head of cyber security for a bank over to talk about pen testing, and one of the questions he got was “What Linux distro do you use at home.” He said Ubuntu, because he wants a system that’s stable and has support. If it works, it works.

I actually stumbled across my Blackberry Torch in storage and gave a great big sigh. I don’t use my phone as a media consumption device as much as many people. I understand I’m in the minority, but its comms first for me.

I’m a current clicks user on my Motorola Razr and I preordered this to use as my singular phone. I use my phone as a communication device, not for media consumption, I watch a video on my phone once a week and use Lemmy. So far the square screen of the RAZR works great for this except for the few times the OS requires the inside screen and the placement of the external cameras.

Surface camera doesn’t work.
I think that’s it.

The Zorg ZF-1!
That, or glow blue when a cop is near…

I’ve been on Linux since 2016, and I’m honestly useless at Windows Administration now.
It’s not just that, but a lot of software feels awful to use. It feels like when Cable stations would just start airing Infomercials (maybe they still do) late at night, trying to sell you things you don’t need. Using modern software unfiltered is an onslaught of advertising, and pressure. It’s not fun.

Alternative headline: “American government unable to control Canadian media sources” .

I’ve been using Linux for my primary gaming machine since 2016, and I’m amazed at how fast I was up and running in Bazzite.
In 20 minutes I installed the OS, pointed it to my steam drives, and had Expedition 33 running with an Xbox Controller over Bluetooth.

Is that Dean Kamen in the last picture??? That might be the most upsetting thing I’ve seen in a long time…

It’s a shame we don’t have those banner ad schemes anymore. Cybersquatting could be a viable income stream if you could convince the cleaners to click banner ads for a faction of a penny each.
Sometimes I feel like I have to physically pull people away from things they aren’t going to like. Everyone wants to learn how to drive a semi with a b-train, but they should be starting on the good old reliable Camry.

I’ve been investing in my bluray collection again and I can’t believe how good 1080p blurays look compared to “UHD streaming” .
This is it, full stop. Dogs are individuals and should be treated as such.
I helped raise and home two litters of Staffordshire pups, we kept a rigorous list of the owners that we interviewed and checked the homes once a year to monitor the dogs progression. We made the owners sign a contract stating that if the living standards weren’t up to snuff, we could reclaim the dogs. I worked with a fellow who raised Staffies for 30 years. In two litters, we had around a dozen well trained, friendly huggable porkchops. Two litters that had no recorded bites past a few months old (puppys nibble but can be trained), and showed no aggression with other animals. All those pups lived to old age, and passed in happy homes. I’ve also met too many pitbulls that were beyond any help i had to offer. Damaged dogs damaged by poor parenting.
I know my story is anecdotal, and i don’t expect to change minds here, but i cant stand the outrage against such lovable dorks when something like the chihuahua exists.

I’m not going to lie, that last one is the hardest thing for me.
After years of trades i always loved having a physical thing you can touch and feel at the end of the day. I’m in university for tech, and i’m still struggling with the lack of achievement. I don’t often get to see someone use a thing I worked on, so it kinda feels like I spent a lot of time doing nothing.
I was a huge fan of Tesla originally. I remember before the roadster, there was all this talk of open sourcing the platform so other manufacturers could build their own EVs.
