It does get a little more complicated when you’re alone with three kids, but it’s not impossible. Put the kids in the car and walk the cart to the corral. If you’re in a parking lot where it isn’t safe to leave the kids alone in the car for 10 seconds, I’d recommend that you avoid shopping there.
I was at a grocery store that had those. I didn’t realize at first. I figured the wheels just got stuck.
I guess I’m more of a gorilla than they expected, because I just kept pushing it to where I was parked. An employee ran out to unlock it before I ground the wheels flat.
In case you weren’t aware, the cart corral is not there to make it more convenient for the cart wranglers. The reason it’s there is to make it more unlikely that a cart will roll free and slam into a parked car.
The people not returning their carts to the corral are dickheads because the carts they abandon could damage someone else’s car.
The people putting their carts over the curb or in the grass or wherever are lazy, but they are at least considerate enough to make sure the abandoned cart won’t roll into someone.
If the world were in any way just, we’d tear down the ones he is building.

Edit: if I recall correctly, bicyclists in PA are supposed to obey all the same traffic laws as car drivers except they aren’t required to maintain the same minimum speed, and they are allowed to ride on the shoulder.

Where do you live that the police do more than file the report?
Where I am they don’t do anything if a car hits you unless the damage is beyond a cost threshold or someone is killed.

The last time one of these folks wanted to buy my house, They were calling me, my wife, and my brother (which was particularly strange since he doesn’t live near me and has nothing to do with my house).
I finally responded so they’d leave my brother alone. I told them I wouldn’t entertain any offer less than $1 million.
My house is not worth $1 million. Maybe if it was in absolutely perfect shape. It’s a Victorian house. It used to be the pastor’s rectory for a church across the street. When the church wanted to tear it down to build an addition, they moved it instead.
However, it probably needs around $200k-$300k of work to get it to perfect shape.
They can pry my ~3% fixed rate mortgage out of my cold, dead hands. I’m not selling it unless I get enough to buy the next place without a mortgage.
Just because they are called “public” it doesn’t mean they’re owned by the public. It’s a non profit created to produce media for public consumption, but they still have bills to pay, employees, etc.
If they have content for streaming or DVD sales or (probably more likely) licensing to other PBS stations, they need to get income from it to maximize their ability to continue to produce the free broadcasts they were created for.

A work colleague is the president of his HOA board. I get to hear about the other side of the conflicts.
I’m only hearing his side, but the things he tells me about make it seem like some of his neighbors are just idiots.
Like people parking in no-parking areas that are supposed to be kept clear for emergency vehicle access. He’s warned people that they can’t park there, and they treat it like he’s being a fascist. He just doesn’t want to hear their bitching when they get towed.
There’s a rule about not being on or near the power transformer. The reason is because people could be injured. However, when he tells someone to keep their kids off it, he’s being a tyrant.
He’s only the president of the HOA board because no one else wants the job. He’s not running around issuing fines because he doesn’t have time for that shit.
People threaten to sue the HOA for bullshit, and he’s baffled. It’s like they think there’s some income stream apart from the fees they pay. If they sue the HOA, they are suing themselves and their neighbors.
I always think about him when I read people complaining about their HOA.
Don’t get me wrong, I would never buy a property in an HOA, but if they do, it’s not like they’re helpless. They can read the rules, organize a resistance, vote the fascists out. They can take charge. They can show everyone how much better their leadership would be.
