Magic is the technology we use to change our minds and perceptions with our thoughts. For example, the placebo effect.
Crazy take. The placebo effect isn’t magic. Science doesn’t understand it, it doesn’t make it magic.

They are at half mast.

Interestingly, in the medical field, I have seen a few headlines, but, I was talking to a guy who works for Mayo Clinic. His job is literally trying to quantify the effects AI is having with the doctors, and talking with him I said the same thing “at least it’s good for the medical field” and he replied with “who told you that? I would actually love to speak with them.” So, I’m not sure how effective it is in the medical field either.
As an athlete, not at a super high level, you function on such adrenaline so consistently, you know exactly what you’re doing. Especially if it isn’t a muscle memory response. Even during a trauma response when I broke my arm in multiple places.
Sure, some “flopping” might be trying to regain balance, but, I promise elite athletes know exactly what they’re doing.
No. It’s that you’re rewarded for playing it up. If there’s a higher chance of getting a call, and no way to really stop it from happening, why would you not overplay every minor event? Especially at the higher tiers where skill gaps aren’t so noticeable.
It happens in every sport.
Here’s a compilation of American manly men being manly in our superior masculine sport
Yeah, you’re not wrong I suppose. I have a sister in marketing and the budget does need to be bigger in that case, and like all companies, they want to squeeze where they can. With something as intangible as marketing, I can see where they’d be the first to get hit.
Though, my own, limited, experience with the marketing industry, it’s all about recognition, click through, and SEO, so, I see a world where it’s not particularly hard to cherry pick data and justify your existence.
Probably a little of both. At the end of the day, fuck ads. lol.
Not going to lie, marketing is one of those things that’s really hard to track. And or, a good marketing team is going to pull stats that mean nothing but sound impactful out of their ass.
I wouldn’t be shocked if, on average, companies could have a fraction of their marketing, however, the c-suite types, can take marketing mumbo jumbo and sell it to investors. A snake eating itself.
Until after the puck crossed center line
This is not the case, it’s the blue line you cannot cross until the puck has. If you attempt a pass from behind the redline, and no one on your team touches it, then, yes, it’s icing. So that you can’t just throw the puck out on defense.

Thank you so much for this write up! I may PM you if I come across questions, if that’s okay. It’ll be likely down the line though, have a few things to sort out before going back into my network.

As someone with a basic background in IT, nothing advanced, but enough to be the “family tech guy”, I just bought my router(mesh network) what can I do? Where do I start? I think I may have messed up with my brand choice, being EERO, as they seem to have things locked into their proprietary app. I was sorta desperate for a quick fix at the time, didn’t do the due diligence I should have.
Edit: preemptive thank you if you take the time to reply. As I am not “friends or family to you”. I do appreciate the expertise!
Unrelated to this post and everything involved in it, my birthday is the 16th! September is a good month for birthdays.

I agree with you, but, I am curious, what does a departure from the status quo mean to you? Is not supporting Israel enough? I tend to say a lot of the same things you have in conversations, but, then I go “I don’t really have any solutions though…” so I look like an idiot.

Thanks for the reply! So, you’re basically saying, in both examples, trying not to be reductionist here, but, “these are great games, and you don’t like them as much as everyone else seems to”. Very few people are going to have no complaints at all. I don’t see how my original point is invalid or how this is a different definition of overrated. Or how you stating your opinion is any different or more nuanced than anything else in this thread. Like, I could also just say your take on Zelda is just “a mechanic I don’t like”. So…

Okay. So what’s overrated to you then? You seem to have a different view than I do.
Is it AAA games that don’t deserve all the reviews and attention, so by definition, they’re overrated?
I’m genuinely curious too, maybe I should think of “over” or “under” rated, as more than just another way of saying “hot take” and expressing a generally contrarian opinion.

Yes? I don’t understand this comment I don’t think. Isn’t that exactly what it means, the majority of people like this thing, and I don’t? Making it over rated? It’s not like there’s the “game rater” on earth like you might find a “name rater” in pokemon. Not like you can say “oh this guy objectively got this one wrong”.
They’re still prevalent. Just not meth.

Crazy to me, that, this is all true, I can become the president, can’t vote for it. Assuming it’s a felony.
Edit: I have educated myself, and this is not the case. I am not a felon, do not have any experience lol I’ve just, incorrectly, heard, that you can’t vote if you’re a felon.

Matt Little is from my home town and was my mayor for a long time. He was good. I like him. Good for him.

I agree, but, I see some parallels, a Reddit competitor that solved some of those issues, was hardly functional when they killed APIs. There was no competition. Look at us now baby! Still not competition, but, at least there’s an alternative.
I hope I can say the same about discord in a bit. There’s really nowhere for anyone to go, without losing a lot of features. Well, hopefully, talented people are going to migrate to these platforms to bring an alternative to discord.
News to me! I didn’t think we knew why it has any real effect on the body. I guess I’ll do some looking.
