That’s too bad for them, but at a certain point, people should be expected to have some level of understanding of the technology they are using. Giving people the information via a highly visible yet unobtrusive notification is more than enough to guide people that don’t understand. If they decide not to follow the clear instructions then that’s on them.

It’s kind of like no child left behind. In theory, it’s a good idea to make sure everyone is in a good position for success, but it’s not good in execution because it negatively impacts more than it helps.

Disconnect

Having a notice that doesn’t occupy the whole screen and can be dismissed temporarily or permanently is a much better and less predatory solution to this problem. This isn’t looking out for the end user, this is urging them into a system where the host can profit off of the user’s data, that also happens to provide a benefit to the user.

The sensor in the front seat of my car is pretty good at knowing when a person is there vs something heavy before it throws the seatbelt alert. I’m sure there is a way to configure these alerts to be fairly accurate. Maybe only do it if the back seatbelt is clicked or if it’s clicked and there is a weight threshold reached.

Honestly the Bluetooth app is dog shit. Haven’t used it in years because it’s far easier to just roll the dial. ANOVA should be paying me for distress.

It’s really a convenience thing. I have a 256 in my GP, and that lasts me a couple of days worth of snowboarding sessions, or longer with miscellaneous recordings. Upload my stuff and clear it. EzPz.

My GoPro can record 4k@30fps. A 20-25min video is 5+gb. The newer GoPros will do 8k@60fps i believe, maybe only 30fps. That will take up a lot more space.

The cards have to be the higher speed cards to be able to record those resolutions, but if I were a person that recorded a lot of stuff, having a card that large would be nice for a day long session.

I have two Wireless Pro Gs, one for work and one for home. I used a g502 for many years and the battery started being shitty with it. I replaced it, but it kept telling me to change it anyway. I then got a g502s that failed within 2 years with double clicking. Then a g902 I think, which started double clicking just after a year. Then I got my first Pro G. I enjoyed it enough to fork out for a second one for work. A couple of months ago, my at home Pro G started double clicking, this is maybe 2-3 years in now. Blowing it out helped a little, but not much. One time I accidentally opened a whole bunch of emails I was going to delete, and slammed it on my desk, and it’s been fine since.

My next mouse will probably be a different brand, even just to play the field a bit.

They already can’t make a fucking mouse that won’t suffer from double clicks within a few years. They have a model, albeit a shitty one, that has people repeatedly buying their products. I will never buy another Logitech product if they even make a “luxury” mouse for the wealthy that has subs, even if they keep a free option. It’s not for me, but the existence of such product is a deal breaker in itself.

I thought that I had read that we are close to the theoretical max efficiency for solar. That may have been in a comment and completely false, but it may be something to look into if it interests you. If there is validity, then there just may not be enough room for those large jumps. I think making them out of safer materials and trying to make the mfg process greener would offset some of the shortcomings of efficiency.

As I was typing my comment and thinking about the kiosks, the absurd height of them was the first thing that came to mind.

I think early releases of self checkouts were extremely poor and buggy. I have had minimal issues over the last handful of years, most of them would have been issues a cashier would have needed to call for help for anyway.

I also don’t feel that I’m made to do extra work. I think having someone bag groceries is a luxury anyway, and most of the time it’s done differently than I would have. I can fit all of my stuff into two bags, while a cashier will split it across 5. Many cashier’s also don’t know the difference between various produce items that requires me to tell them, when I could have just done it myself.

The only time I don’t do self checkout is if I’m getting alcohol. At some locations, I would sooner wait behind someone finishing up their self checkout instead going to an empty cashier.

I personally love kiosk ordering and by proxy, self check-outs anywhere and everywhere. The less humans I have to work with the better, because humans are slow, social, and make mistakes. That said, McDonald’s kiosks kinda suck, and they are one of the least intuitive interfaces out there IMO.
