As the Trump administration searches for more space to detain immigrants, it is approaching Washington tribes to see if they will participate.
The Nisqually Tribal Council said in a statement Friday evening it learned that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has been talking to one of its staff members without consulting the council.
The council said it also discovered ICE has been reaching out to other tribal governments and cities in Washington in an attempt to secure detention space.
For its part, the Nisqually Indian Tribe, whose reservation lies east of Olympia and which has a 288-bed correctional facility built in part with federal funds, is telling ICE no, according to the council.
“The Nisqually people are not in favor of, nor will the tribal council allow, the detention of individuals by ICE on our reservation or in our facilities,” said Tribal Chair E.K. Choke in the statement.

A “request?”
I remember a while back when MAGAs were trying to create some justification for targeting Native Americans. One suggestion was that they have sovereignty on their reservation lands, but the second they leave that reservation, they have illegally entered a foreign sovereign nation, America, and can be detained, and sent to El Salvador, or wherever.
I would bet that the “request” is also accompanied by threats of retaliation if they don’t cooperate. I would expect nothing less from MAGA.

This is why there are no good billionaires. Because I’d buy a chunk of land, put some fences around it for protection, take people in and feed them, house them, improve their lives, give them opportunities.
The Sociopathic Oligarchs are making plans to do that right now. They’ll be called “Freedom Cities,” and they will be ruled by the corporation or the Oligarch, by his rules, with little oversight or regulation by the government.
It’s mostly a scheme to exploit the H1B visa program, and bring Asian foreign workers over here, and basically enslave them in Concentration/ Work Camps, but it’s only a matter of time before American citizens that have been branded Undesirable end up there.
Saudi Arabia’s entire economy is based on this. They import labor from India and the Philippines, keep them housed in terrible conditions, and work them like rented mules for slave wages.
The bottom line is that foreign workers will still be taking American jobs, they just don’t want them coming in willy-nilly and running around wherever they want. They want to choose who comes in, where they go, what they do, and who OWNS them.
They don’t want to get rid of foreign workers, they want to enslave foreign workers. And whatever work they can’t/ won’t do, AI will. Either way, Americans are losing their jobs.
