Don’t forget the “buy acrobat pro” popups everywhere, that even when purchased barely unlock any useful features.

The only useful pro feature I have found is the convert to word document, because the alternatives are so fucking bad at it.

I used Nitro PDF free for a decade, it’s the best standalone alternative to Adobe Reader and gives you some of the functions of Adobe Acrobat for free. The UI uses the same Ribbon as Microsoft Office so learning how to use it is easy and intuitive. It also loads in half the time and uses far less memory and CPU resources than Adobe.

I replaced Microsoft Office with OnlyOffice this year, which has PDF baked in, so I don’t need Nitro anymore, but I still highly recommend it.
